Our award winning Kindergym programme is designed to teach the pre-school child all the basic motor skills, developing their balance, co-ordination, spatial awareness, fine and gross motor skills and overall body control while learning about colours and numbers. Starting from 4 months old, they can explore the gym in a safe and fun environment. As they progress they will benefit from developing confidence and social interaction with other children and gain the experience of taking instruction from an adult other than mum or dad. All our classes are 45 minutes long and carefully themed each week, starting with a 10 minute warm up using hand apparatus, songs and gymnastic skills. This is followed by 30 minutes of fun circuits on the age appropriate apparatus and finishes with a parachute game. Our Kindergym classes are further split into different age groups, see below for a more detailed description. We other both with and without parent participation to enable each child to work at an appropriate level.
During these early months we try to encourage a special bond between parent and baby in a fun, safe and friendly environment. Using a multi-sensory approach with the help of music, hand apparatus and age appropriate equipment it will enhance the development of their physical strength, muscle control, co-ordination, balance and social inter-action up until their first steps.
(walking-2 ½ years)
These classes are with parent, unstructured and are based on a circuit of activity stations, where your child through constructive play begins to gain the added benefits of movement, focus and social interaction.
(age 2 ½-4 years)
The child supported by their parent has the opportunity to develop the basic foundations for gymnastic moves on all pieces of apparatus at their own pace. The children will enjoy the challenges of boy’s and girl’s gymnastics apparatus at a level appropriate to their age and ability, as well as trampoline, tumble (fastrack) and basic circus skills.
(3 years +)
This class is the first opportunity to attend a class without their parent. They learn to interact in a group situation and take instruction from an adult other than mum or dad, while developing their skills on all pieces of gymnastic and circus apparatus.
We always encourage a with-parent class first before joining a Fledgling class for those to familiarise themselves with the gym and so our staff can get to know each parent and or guardian. To help the coach gain a deeper understanding to each child to build the necessary trust and confidences that the child is ready to make a smooth transition to a without parent class.
