Summer Circus Camp Fun

At the end of the Summer holidays, Prime Acrobatics is running holiday gymnastics camps in Woking and Camberley. Our summer gymnastics camps come with a circus twist! Children of primary school age can enjoy all of the exciting equipment our Woking gymnastics centre and Camberley gymnastics centre both have to offer; trampolines, tumble tracks, aerial hoop, trapeze, juggling equipment and much more!

Our gymnastics and circus camps take place in two of the best gymnastics centres in Surrey and are run by British Gymnastics qualified coaches. We caught up with one of our senior coaches, Morgan, to find out his thoughts on our Summer camps.

Why should someone come to our summer camps?

“Both of our facilities offer an amazing variety of gymnastics and circus equipment for children to explore and learn new skills. The coaches aim to make the sessions as fun as possible while keeping the gymnasts challenged and feeling rewarded. Sessions are longer (compared to our after school classes), with more content, allowing coaches to assess skill level and create challenges tailored to the gymnasts’ goals.”

Each camp date will include rebound equipment, aerial equipment and balancing equipment. Can you explain what this will look like?

“We will use a variety of rebound apparatus such as tumble track, trampolines, trampettes and teeterboard. Using this apparatus, you can learn skills such as round-offs, handsprings and somersaults, as well as any other skills you may wish to learn.”

“When it comes to aerial, at Prime, we have many options, including silks, hoop and swinging trapeze just to name a few! On these we will first learn the basics such as balancing, climbing and spinning, which we can then progress into more technical skills like gazelle, bird’s nest, and hip locks. There is so much to try!”

“Balancing challenges take place on equipment like globes, beams, tight wires and slack lines. Some of the skills to mention are one footed balances, walking in different directions and dismount variations from star jumps to somersaults!”

What are your favourite things to coach?

“My favourite trick to do (and teach) is a somersault on the trampoline. I love to teach it because it is a skill you can really build up from the ground, requiring technique and practice rather than just strength, which allows everyone to give it a go. It feels amazing and lets you show off to your friends. Who doesn’t love a bouncy floor which boosts you into the sky?!”
