Well Done, Lloyd!

Prime Acrobatics member Lloyd Martin has had an action packed few weeks! Here’s what he has been up to…

Children In Need
Lloyd was selected to be part of The One Show’s Challenge Squad to participate in an epic fundraising effort for Children In Need. Lloyd took on an Olympic triathlon to raise money for charities like Stepping Stones DS who have supported Lloyd and many other children and young people with Down syndrome. Lloyd successfully completed the triathlon, comprising of a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run (accompanied by his gymnastics coach Josie Rice). Lloyd had loads of support during his three-day challenge and Gym Manager Lucy Doyle was cheering Lloyd on as he crossed the finish line. The Challenge Squad raised over £2m for Children In Need – simply amazing!

British Disability Championships
Lloyd took part in the annual British Disability Championships event by British Gymnastics. Lloyd picked up medals on floor, vault, pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and high bar. He took the bronze medal for the overall position.

Gymnastics Helper Qualification
Lloyd has been helping out with our Saturday morning Stepping Stones sessions for children with Down syndrome and decided he wanted to attend the same British Gymnastics training course that our other class helpers do. Our Gym Manager Lucy is also a British Gymnastics tutor and she ran a course in our Camberley gym a few weeks ago for Lloyd and several other of our class helpers. Lloyd was a delight to have on the course and is now a qualified class helper. Watch a video here.

We are incredibly proud of Lloyd and all the work he does to raise money for charity and increase awareness of the importance of inclusion and opportunities for all. We are very lucky to have him as a helper and he is a role model that everyone can take inspiration from!
