Prime Acrobatics is excited to announce an amazing partnership with Cirque du Soleil’s talent development program NexGen.
NexGen is a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and select few talent training centres. The goal is to share expertise and best practices in the field of human performance and provide high-calibre training opportunities to emerging talent. Prime is extremely proud to become the sixth NexGen partner globally and the very first in United Kingdom.
Prime Acrobatics will open its doors to a new gymnastics and circus training centre in Camberley this June. The 11,000 square foot facility has been designed to cater for gymnastics, acrobatics and circus disciplines, building on the success of Prime Acrobatics’ Woking facility, which runs classes for all ages, seven days a week and boasts close to 1,700 members. The first NexGen workshop at Prime Acrobatics is scheduled to take place this Summer, 13-18 August at the new centre in Camberey, Surrey. This workshop will offer six days of expert training with a Cirque du Soleil coach in the disciplines of Russian swing, standing cradle and hoop diving. Applications are open now and until the end of May. Further details can be found here.
Prime Acrobatics Founder and Director Chris Bowler has been a Head Coach for Cirque du Soleil, working on touring shows Totem and Amaluna, taking lead responsibility for all aspects of the acrobatics performances. He also worked on the creation of Toruk – The First Flight. After a very successful and memorable time on the road with with the company, Chris was excited to return to the UK to found Prime Acrobatics in 2016.
On creating a partnership between Prime Acrobatics and NexGen by Cirque du Soleil, Chris said; “This is an exciting chapter for us. We have long prided ourselves on offering a wonderful environment and truly unique classes. Opening this new facility in Camberley will allow us to bring more opportunities to children, young people and adults to take part in our wonderful programmes. Becoming a partner centre for Cirque du Soleil’s NexGen program also means we can support the elite end of acrobatics, and the company’s vision to detect and nurture talented athletes, who may wish to pursue a career in performing on stage, to help shape their lives, and bring joy to others.”
André Lachance, Senior Director of Casting at Cirque du Soleil added; “With 3.6% of our artists coming from the UK, we were looking for a high-caliber, trusted partner to develop our NexGen workshops in this region. Prime Acrobatics appeared as a prime candidate, both with the opening of their new training and circus centre and with the experience of Chris Bowler, director and founder of Prime Acrobatics, with Cirque du Soleil.”
